Quite frankly, it’s hard to find something that the Jeep Grand Cherokee can’t do. The same SUV that’s equally comfortable living its entire life shuttling kids back and forth to school is available as a 470-horsepower, fire-breathing track monster, and a true 4WD capable of tackling some of the most advanced trails. Its breadth of capability is simply unlike anything I’ve seen from Jeep in the past—and we haven’t even started talking about the Trailhawk.

The Trailhawk, which in addition to its more aggressive styling elements, comes standard with a myriad of technical off-road packages, skid plates, all-terrain tires, and even rock sliders. All of this combines to create a vehicle so capable in a huge variety of situations that it’s well…spooky. With a good driver, the Trailhawk is not only capable of traversing the Rubicon Trail, but also getting you to the trailhead from across the continent in complete comfort. This isn’t something exclusive to the Trailhawk, as quite a few modern vehicles including Jeep’s Wrangler Rubicon are capable of this, but I’ve yet to a experience a complete package as refined as this on many different levels.

The word “spooky” consistently began to appear during our testing; usually preceded by “wow, I need to slow down” and “I thought I was going 55″.
